Bone health screening shouldn't require a referral out.
Most practitioners have no in-house way to assess bone fragility — so patients get referred elsewhere, and that visit doesn't come back. The EchoLight device changes that: no radiation, no need to set aside a permanent room — the device sets up in any existing exam space you already have, nothing to purchase or equipment to buy, and results your team can review the same day.
For Practitioners
Add a revenue-generating service — with zero equipment investment.
We bring the FDA-cleared EchoLight device directly to your practice. No purchase, no training burden, no added staff.
For Individuals
Skip the wait at a radiology or imaging center.
Book a bone health scan at one of our convenient clinic locations and get results in minutes — no imaging-center runaround.

What REMS Screening Helps Identify
Osteopenia and osteoporosis are conditions where bone density and structure weaken over time, increasing the risk of fracture — often without any noticeable symptoms until a break occurs. REMS (Radiofrequency Echographic Multi-Spectrometry) technology gives a clear picture of bone density and fragility, helping identify these changes early, so you and your healthcare provider can make informed decisions about your bone health.

Bone Density Screening FAQs
Answers for practices and individuals considering OsteoScan Mobile.
-
REMS (Radiofrequency Echographic Multi Spectrometry) is an innovative, ultrasound-based technology used to assess bone health. Unlike traditional DXA scans, REMS does not use ionizing radiation. The examination evaluates the lumbar spine and hip and provides information about bone mineral density and bone fragility.
-
REMS and DXA are both technologies used to assess bone health, but they work differently. DXA uses a low dose of ionizing radiation to measure bone mineral density, while REMS uses ultrasound and does not expose patients to ionizing radiation.
REMS provides bone mineral density measurements, including T-scores and Z-scores, and also provides a Fragility Score—additional information about bone quality and fragility that is independent of bone mineral density.
DXA remains an established standard for osteoporosis assessment. REMS offers a radiation-free, portable alternative that can provide additional insight into bone health and fracture risk.
-
Bone density is only one part of understanding bone strength. The REMS Fragility Score provides additional information about characteristics of the bone's internal structure that are associated with skeletal fragility.
This can help provide a more comprehensive picture of bone health beyond bone mineral density alone.
-
No. REMS uses ultrasound technology and does not expose you to ionizing radiation.
Because it is radiation-free, REMS can be an appealing option for individuals who want to assess and monitor their bone health without radiation exposure.
-
REMS evaluates clinically important areas associated with osteoporosis and fracture risk, including the lumbar spine and proximal femur (hip).
-
The examination itself is quick and non-invasive.The lumbar scan takes approximately 80 seconds and the femur scan takes 40 seconds. Most appointments can be completed within approximately 15–20 minutes, although appointment times may vary.
-
Yes. Following your examination, a detailed REMS report is generated with your bone health measurements and results. Your report can be shared with your physician or other healthcare provider for interpretation in the context of your overall health and medical history.
-
Bone health assessment may be particularly important for adults as they age and for people with risk factors for bone loss or fracture, including menopause, family history of osteoporosis, previous fractures, low body weight, certain medical conditions, or medications that can affect bone health.
Your healthcare provider can help determine when bone density testing is appropriate for you.
-
REMS provides measurements used in the assessment of bone health, including bone mineral density, T-scores, Z-scores, and additional information about bone fragility.
Your results should be reviewed with your physician or qualified healthcare provider, who can interpret them along with your medical history, risk factors, and other clinical information when making a diagnosis or treatment decision.
-
A referral is not required to schedule a REMS bone health assessment with OsteoScan Mobile. However, REMS results are medical information and should be discussed with your healthcare provider, particularly if your results indicate low bone density or increased bone fragility.
-
No. REMS is non-invasive and painless. An ultrasound probe is placed over the areas being evaluated, similar to other ultrasound examinations.
-
REMS requires very little preparation. Wear comfortable clothing and follow any specific instructions provided when your appointment is scheduled. Additional preparation instructions will be provided if necessary.
-
OsteoScan Mobile is a self-pay service. This allows us to bring advanced bone health assessment directly to participating healthcare and wellness locations without requiring insurance authorization.
Payment information and current pricing are provided when your appointment is scheduled.
